Susan Haley
Owner and Founder
Susan is the owner and founder of Calming Hands Massage & Wellness. She graduated from the Body Therapy Institute in Siler City, NC in 2013. She’s trained in many modalities of massage therapy, with certifications in ashiatsu massage, lymphatic drainage, cupping, gua sha, and hot stone massage.
Myofascial release is Susan’s favorite type of massage, and she’s received advanced training in Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, a bodywork treatment that’s designed to relieve pain and rebalance the body.
Susan opened Calming Hands Massage & Wellness in 2017. Before that, she worked at other spas and had a private home-based practice for almost four years. Along the way in 2019, she completed both a 46-hour Somatic Education Leadership course and a 100-hour Spirit of Learning course, a specialized teacher training program for massage, somatic, and healthcare educators.
Most of Susan’s clients are seeking pain relief. She’s not a massage therapist with a light or soft hand, and her goal is to help her clients live pain-free lives. They range in age from teenagers to the elderly and are from diverse backgrounds. But what unites Susan’s clients is a desire to feel better, and she’s honored to help them achieve that goal.
Self-care and finding balance in her life are priorities for Susan. Now that she and her husband are empty nesters, life has changed a bit. Susan loves spending time with her husband, their pitbull Lola, and their three cats. She also enjoys her flower beds and plants.
